“Cindy Gallop’s experience dating younger men, specifically men in their 20s, brought her face to face with “the real ramifications of the increasing ubiquity of hard core pornography.” She took her message to the world in a now-famous 2009 Ted Talk, kickstarting her global mission to normalize sex and conversations around sexual values. She’s also a former ad exec, the founder of MakeLoveNotPorn.tv, and frequent consultant and speaker on issues like sexual harassment or gender parity in the workplace.
We were lucky enough to meet up with this incredible woman and get her thoughts on how the “social sex revolution” is relevant and necessary in an Indian context, and how India’s rich cultural history around sexual values provides the perfect foundation. This podcast between Gallop, Karla Bookman, The Swaddle founder and editor, and Sonali Gupta, psychologist and a contributor at The Swaddle, covers breaking the stigma around discussing sex, particularly in India; the fallout from early and unguided exposure to pornography; and how parents can counter the unrealistic sexual ideas kids learn from porn.”
